How it works
Import the episode
Paste a YouTube URL you own for an episode you own or have rights to use, or upload the raw MP4 / MOV / MKV / WebM video file. ClipX requires rights confirmation before processing and stores the episode for clipping — even hour-plus episodes are fine.
AI ranks the most quotable moments
ClipX transcribes the full episode with the host-native MLX service. The configured LLM then scores each candidate segment for hook strength, story arc completeness, and platform fit. The output is a ranked feed of clips with timestamps and a one-sentence reason for each — often several publishable clips per hour of source video.
Export with captions and host framing
For video podcasts, ClipX can frame speakers using face-aware crop tools. Toggle captions on and ClipX renders word-level captions in your preferred style. Export as 9:16 for TikTok / Reels / Shorts, 1:1 for Instagram feed, or 16:9 for YouTube long-form re-cuts.
Publish or download
Download the MP4 ready to post to TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, or X. Every clip also gets a public share page at /c/{id} with proper OG video meta for embeds.

Frequently asked questions
Is this podcast clip generator really free?
Yes. Free includes 100 coins every month (100 min of video processing) with a small ClipX watermark, no credit card. Pro is currently $14/month during the beta sale (regularly $29) for 500 coins/month (500 min) and removes the watermark.
How long does it take to clip a podcast episode?
Processing time depends on episode length, queue load, transcription, face tracking, captions, and export settings. ClipX shortens the editorial workflow by ranking candidate moments first, so you can review the strongest segments instead of scrubbing the full episode manually.
How does ClipX find the best podcast clips?
After transcribing the audio, the analysis model reads the full transcript with structured prompting. It scores each candidate segment on four dimensions: hook strength (does the opening line grab attention in under three seconds), story arc (setup → tension → payoff in a self-contained passage), pacing (is the segment dense enough or does it ramble), and platform fit (different cues land on TikTok versus YouTube Shorts). The output is a ranked list — you skim the top scores first.
Does ClipX work with audio-only podcasts (MP3)?
ClipX is currently designed around video inputs: YouTube video podcasts or uploaded video files. For an audio-only podcast, first make a simple video version with artwork or a waveform, then upload that video to ClipX for clipping and captions.
Can I clip a 3-hour podcast with the free tier?
You can — but a 3-hour podcast costs 180 coins (180 min ÷ 1 min/coin), which exceeds the 100-coin free monthly grant. Pro at $14/month gives you 500 coins (500 min), comfortably covering a 3-hour episode with room for more. Free clips export with a small ClipX watermark; Pro removes it.
Will the clips include captions?
Captions are optional but included free on every plan. Toggle them on in the editor and ClipX renders word-level captions burned into the video using the transcript. Multiple styles are available — bold-emphasis, karaoke highlight, minimal text, or fully custom font and color. Most podcast clip viewers watch on muted scroll, so captions are essentially required for retention.
How does this handle multi-host podcasts?
For video podcasts with two hosts, ClipX offers side-by-side layouts for vertical export. For three or four speakers, a 2x2 grid layout keeps everyone visible. Multi-speaker caption labeling depends on the available transcript data and editing workflow.
Can I monitor a podcast channel and auto-clip new episodes?
Yes — channel monitoring is a Pro feature. Add the podcast's YouTube channel by URL or @handle, set your default clip preferences (max clips per episode, virality threshold, aspect ratio, captions), and ClipX automatically processes every new upload and surfaces the ranked clips for review.
