How it works

1

Paste a YouTube URL you own

Drop a public/unlisted YouTube link you own or have rights to use into ClipX — full videos, livestreams, podcasts, or shorts compilations. ClipX confirms rights, then stores the video for processing. Confirm you own or have permission to repurpose the video before processing.

2

AI ranks the most viral moments

ClipX transcribes the audio with the host-native MLX transcription service and the configured LLM scores each candidate segment for hook strength, narrative arc, pacing, and TikTok platform fit. The output is a ranked feed of suggested clips with timestamps and a one-sentence reason for each.

3

Export 9:16 vertical for TikTok

One-click export each clip in 9:16 vertical with face-following crop (the speaker stays centered as they move). Toggle auto-captions in your preferred style, add a background music bed, and download the MP4 ready to share to TikTok via your phone's share sheet. (One-tap direct publishing rolling out soon.)

What you get

  • 9:16 vertical MP4 ready for TikTok upload (also 1:1, 4:5, 16:9 if needed)
  • Word-level auto-captions burned into the video, with multiple style options
  • Auto face-following crop powered by MediaPipe — speaker stays in frame
  • Optional background music bed at adjustable volume
  • MP4 ready to share to TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts via your phone's share sheet (direct publishing coming soon)
  • Public clip share page at /c/{id} with proper OG video meta for embeds

Frequently asked questions

Is this YouTube to TikTok converter really free?

Yes. Free includes 100 coins every month (100 min of video processing) with a small ClipX watermark, no credit card. Pro is currently $14/month during the beta sale (regularly $29) for 500 coins/month (500 min) and removes the watermark.

How long does it take to convert a YouTube video to TikTok format?

Processing time depends on source length, queue load, transcription, face tracking, captions, and export settings. ClipX saves time by ranking candidate moments first, so you can review strong segments instead of manually scrubbing the full source.

Can I convert long YouTube videos like 2-hour podcasts to TikTok?

Yes. Long videos are the primary use case. Processing uses 1 credit per minute of source video, and ClipX returns a ranked feed of candidate moments so you can review strong segments before formatting them for TikTok.

Will the converted clip include captions?

Captions are optional but included free. Toggle captions on in the editor and ClipX renders word-level captions burned into the video using the transcript. Multiple styles are available — bold-emphasis, karaoke-highlight, minimal, or fully custom font and color. Most TikTok creators publish with captions on for the muted-scroll audience.

Can I publish directly to TikTok from ClipX?

Direct one-tap publishing to TikTok is rolling out soon. Today, export the finished MP4 from the editor and share it to TikTok through your phone's native share sheet — same result, one extra tap. The TikTok OAuth integration is built and approved; the in-app Publish button will light up once the rollout completes.

Does this work with YouTube Shorts as a source?

Yes — ClipX can process YouTube Shorts URLs the same way as long-form videos. Most Shorts are already 9:16, so the workflow is more about adding captions, swapping background music, or re-cropping for a different platform than re-clipping the moment. For repurposing a Shorts compilation into individual TikToks, ClipX works well.

What about TikTok aspect ratio and safe zones?

TikTok plays vertical 9:16 video at 1080×1920 pixels. ClipX exports at that exact resolution. Caption placement defaults to the safe zone (avoiding the bottom 25% where TikTok overlays the username, song title, and right-side action buttons). The Safe Zones guide in the academy covers the full 2026 spec.

How is this different from doing it manually in CapCut or Premiere?

Manual editing requires you to scrub the timeline to find the best moments. ClipX uses AI to rank moments by short-form potential, then lets you accept suggestions, tweak in/out points if needed, and export. Reframing, captioning, and music-mixing controls live in the same workflow.
