Webinar and Zoom Recording to Shorts
Turn a recorded webinar, Zoom call or virtual event into short vertical clips with captions. Upload the recording or paste a YouTube or Vimeo link, and ClipX finds the answers and ideas worth sharing.
One free video a day. No credit card. Cancel any time.
This page is for marketers, founders, coaches and teams who run webinars and want more from each recording than a replay link few people open. An hour-long webinar usually contains a few answers that would work as short posts on their own. ClipX finds them.
Webinar recordings have quirks that general clip tools handle badly: a speaker in a small tile, slides that fill most of the frame, long gaps during Q&A. This page explains how to get clean clips out of them with ClipX.
How it works
Get the recording
Download the cloud or local recording from Zoom, Teams, Meet or Webex as an MP4. ClipX cannot open a Zoom share link, so use the file, or upload the recording to YouTube or Vimeo and paste that link.
Upload or paste, and set Educational
Upload the MP4 (up to 500 MB), or paste a YouTube or Vimeo link for larger files. Set the content type to Educational / tutorial, so each clip covers one idea from start to end. Confirm that you have the right to use the recording, especially when guests or attendees speak in it.
Review the clips
ClipX transcribes the session and ranks the moments: clear answers, strong opinions, short stories. Keep the ones that stand alone and skip the housekeeping.
Frame, caption and export
Choose a layout for each clip, correct any misheard names or product terms in the captions, and export 1080×1920 MP4s on Pro.
What you get
- MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM uploads up to 500 MB, or YouTube and Vimeo links
- Recordings up to 3 hours
- Layouts for one speaker, two speakers, or slides with a title
- Captions you can correct word by word
- Remove pauses in one step; remove filler words in English
Framing a Zoom recording for a phone
Zoom records in speaker view or gallery view. Speaker view is the easier one to clip: one face fills the frame, and Face Zoom keeps it centred in a 9:16 crop. In gallery view the faces are small tiles; ClipX does not zoom into a tiny face and blow it up, and Full Fit + Title keeps the whole frame with a title above it.
When the speaker shares slides, the slide is often the point of the clip. Use Full Fit + Title so the slide stays readable, and write the hook in the title line.
For a two-person fireside chat, Dual Face puts each speaker in their own half of the frame.
Recordings and links ClipX can and cannot open
- Works: MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM files up to 500 MB; public or unlisted YouTube links; public Vimeo links.
- Does not work: Zoom, Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive share links. Download the file first.
- Does not work: audio-only files. Upload the video recording.
- Recordings over 3 hours are refused on every plan.
Tips for webinar clips people watch
- Clip the answers, not the agenda. The Q&A and the moment a guest disagrees usually beat the opening slides.
- Check names and product terms in the captions before you export; transcription can mishear them.
- Use Medium length (1–3 min) for an expert answer that needs room, and Short for one-line ideas.
- Type the topics you care about in Focus Topics, for example "pricing" or "customer stories", to steer the picks.
- Ask speakers and guests before you post clips of them.
Frequently asked questions
Can I try this free?
You can process one video a day for free, up to 3 hours long, and edit and preview every clip ClipX finds. Exporting finished clips needs Pro: $4.99 for the first month, then $20/month, or $200/year. Pro has unlimited videos and exports, with no watermark.
Can I paste a Zoom cloud recording link?
No. ClipX cannot open Zoom share links. Download the MP4 from Zoom and upload it, or put it on YouTube or Vimeo and paste that link.
My recording is bigger than 500 MB. What can I do?
Upload it to YouTube as an unlisted video and paste the link. ClipX takes YouTube links up to 3 hours long.
Can ClipX post to LinkedIn?
No. Export the MP4 and upload it to LinkedIn yourself. Direct publishing from ClipX is open for YouTube on Pro.
Does it work for webinars that are not in English?
ClipX detects the spoken language and transcribes it. English has had the most testing, and removing filler words works in English only, so check the captions more closely in other languages.
