Head-to-head comparison
OpusClip vs Klap
Pick OpusClip if you want a free plan you can keep, the cheapest way in at $15 a month, and an editor with B-roll, dubbing and Premiere Pro export. Pick Klap if you would rather pay for finished clips than for minutes of video, need captions in many languages, or want a pay-as-you-go API. For streams longer than 3 hours, OpusClip is the one of the two that takes them whole.
Facts checked on 2026-11-04 on each vendor's own site. ClipX is not affiliated with OpusClip or Klap.
What is OpusClip?
OpusClip turns long videos into short vertical clips. You upload a file or paste a link, and its AI picks moments, adds animated captions and reframes the shot to 9:16. The product has grown well past clipping: AI B-roll, voice-over, video dubbing, eye contact correction and export to Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve all sit in its paid tiers, and the pricing page now announces OpusClip 4.0.
It aims at solo creators at the low end and marketing teams at the top, with a Business tier that adds SSO, a dedicated processing queue and custom credits. OpusClip is best known for its Virality Score, the number it puts on each clip, and for a Free plan with no end date. That plan has clear limits: 60 credits a month, a watermark, no editing, and clips you can export for only 3 days.
What is Klap?
Klap, operated by ZIGG SAS, does the same core job: it takes a long video or a link and returns TikToks, Reels and Shorts. Its home page lists active-speaker reframing with layouts for split screen, screencasts and gaming, and captions and transcription in 99+ languages.
Klap keeps its billing simple. Plans count the clips you generate, not the minutes you upload, and every plan includes scheduling, post analytics and unlimited social accounts. Developers can call a REST API priced per video and per clip, or connect Klap to Zapier, Make, n8n or an MCP client. There is no free plan, only a free trial on one video with no card, and downloading or posting the result needs a paid plan.

Pricing: minutes against clips
As of November 4, 2026, OpusClip has three paid levels. Starter costs $15 a month, is sold on monthly billing only and includes 150 credits. Pro costs $29 a month, or $14.5 a month when you pay $174 for a year, and includes 300 credits a month that roll over for 2 months. Business has custom pricing. OpusClip's API documentation defines one credit as one minute of video processing, so Starter covers about 2.5 hours of source video a month and Pro about 5 hours.
Klap has no minute meter. Basic is $29 a month, or $174 a year ($14.50 a month), for 100 clips a month. Pro is $79 a month or $474 a year for 300 clips, and Pro+ is $189 a month or $1,134 a year for 1,000 clips. On yearly billing the clips arrive as one pool for the year, for example 1,200 on Basic. A 3-hour podcast uses about 180 OpusClip credits, more than a month of Starter. On Klap the same file costs whatever number of clips the run generates, and its length does not change the bill.
On yearly billing the two meet at the same figure: $174 a year buys OpusClip Pro or Klap Basic. If you clip a few long recordings and keep many clips from each, Klap's clip count lasts longer. If you clip many short videos and keep a handful from each, OpusClip's minutes go further. Klap refunds a monthly or yearly plan in the first month, according to its pricing page.
How each one finds the moments
Both tools read the transcript and score each moment. OpusClip shows its Virality Score from Starter up and lets you set a timeframe and a clip length, from 0-1 minute up to 10-15 minutes. On Pro, its clipping also weighs visual objects, sound and emotion, adds genre-specific curation and accepts a written prompt, so you can ask for a topic instead of scrolling through every pick. Paid plans can reprompt a project to refine the results.
Klap attaches a virality score on every plan and lets you edit each clip, add B-roll and write a hook title before you post. Its site says less about the controls you get before a run. If steering the AI with a topic or a prompt matters to you, OpusClip documents that control on its pricing page and Klap does not list it.
Captions and languages
Klap lists captions and transcription in 99+ languages on every plan. OpusClip lists animated captions in 20+ languages, with emoji and keyword highlights on every tier. For an English channel the gap rarely matters. For a channel in a less common language, Klap claims the wider coverage, so test your own audio on both before you pay.
OpusClip adds a few caption extras on Pro: up to 2 uploaded fonts and automatic censoring of curse words from a default list, with a custom list on Business. Klap lists custom fonts, colors and logos under customization without tying them to a plan.
Streams and long recordings
Long sources favour OpusClip: per its help center, a single upload may run as long as 10 hours, and the Copilot settings choose which stretch gets processed. Twitch is in the Pro import list, not in Starter's. Klap's pricing page caps source videos at 3 hours on every plan, and its MCP page lists links from Twitch and Kick. So a 6-hour stream fits in one OpusClip project, while on Klap you would cut it into parts first.
Both list a layout for webcam-plus-gameplay footage: OpusClip names a screenshare/gameplay layout in its reframing features, and Klap names Gaming next to Split Screen and Screencasts.
Publishing and automation
Klap includes scheduling, post analytics and unlimited social accounts on every plan, and posts to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook. On OpusClip the list depends on the tier: Starter covers YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram, and the Pro tier brings in six more networks (Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky) plus a scheduler and 6 connected accounts. OpusClip Starter and Pro can also import new videos on their own from a verified YouTube account.
For code, the two take different routes. Klap sells its API separately, at $0.44 per input video, $0.32 per short and $0.48 per export, and connects to Zapier, Make, n8n and MCP. OpusClip puts a video editing API, a scheduler API and an MCP connector in Pro, which its plan card calls limited API access, and keeps full API work and custom integrations for Business.
Which one should you pick?
You want to start free and stay free for a while
Pick: OpusClip
Its Free plan gives 60 credits every month with no end date. Klap offers a trial on one video, and you cannot download the clips from it.
You run a podcast in a language other than English
Pick: Klap
Klap lists 99+ caption languages on every plan; OpusClip lists 20+.
You process a few long episodes and keep many clips from each
Pick: Klap
Klap counts clips, so a 3-hour file costs no more than a 20-minute one. Keep each source at 3 hours or less.
Your streams run longer than 3 hours
Pick: OpusClip
OpusClip takes videos up to 10 hours and imports Twitch links on Pro. Klap stops at 3 hours per video.
You want B-roll, dubbing and a Premiere Pro handoff in one tool
Pick: OpusClip
Pro bundles AI and stock B-roll, video dubbing, speech enhancement and export to Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve.
You build an automated pipeline in code
Pick: Either
Klap's pay-per-use API suits low or uneven volume. OpusClip's API comes with Pro and Business, which suits a team already paying for them.
A third option: ClipX
ClipX is built for streamers and gaming creators as much as for podcasts. Give it a link to a finished Twitch or Kick broadcast, a YouTube upload or replay, or a Vimeo video, and ClipX transcribes the speech, ranks the moments and cuts 9:16 clips with captions timed to each word. It picks clips from what people say and how they react. It does not read the scoreboard, kill feed or other on-screen text, so mostly silent gameplay gives few clips.
There is a free plan to try it (process, edit and preview; exports need Pro). Pro is $4.99 for the first month, then $20/month or $200/year.
- Long streams: Pro accepts streams up to 12 hours. You choose a part of up to 3 hours, then paste the link again for the next part.
- Gaming / stream mode ranks the players' voices above in-game announcers and keeps both the setup and the reaction in each clip. It turns on by itself for a Twitch VOD under a game category or a YouTube video in the Gaming category.
- The Facecam + Video layout puts the webcam on top and the gameplay below. ClipX finds a webcam box with clear edges on its own; if not, you drag the top crop once per clip.
- Autopilot watches a YouTube channel and clips each new upload.
- What ClipX lacks next to OpusClip and Klap: there is no API, and direct publishing covers YouTube Shorts only. For TikTok and Reels you export the 1080x1920 MP4 and post it from the app.
Free plan to try it: process, edit and preview. Exports need Pro, $4.99 for the first month, then $20/month.
Common questions about OpusClip vs Klap
Is OpusClip cheaper than Klap?
At the entry level, yes: OpusClip Starter is $15 a month and Klap Basic is $29 a month. On yearly billing they meet at $174 a year, for OpusClip Pro or Klap Basic. Which one costs you less depends on whether you burn through minutes of video or through clips.
Does either one have a free plan?
OpusClip has a Free plan with 60 credits a month, a watermark, no editing and a 3-day export window. Klap has no free plan. You can try it on one video without a card, but downloading or posting needs a paid plan.
Which is better for podcasts?
Both handle talking-head video well. Klap fits a multilingual show, and its per-clip billing suits long episodes up to 3 hours. OpusClip fits a show that wants B-roll, filler and pause removal and video dubbing from the same tool.
Which works with Twitch streams?
Yes, with limits. Twitch import is part of OpusClip Pro (not Starter), and its length ceiling is 10 hours. Klap's MCP page lists Twitch and Kick links, but its pricing page caps source videos at 3 hours.
Can I post to TikTok straight from either one?
Yes. Klap posts to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook on every plan. OpusClip posts to TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram from Starter, and Pro adds six more networks and a scheduler.
How is ClipX different from OpusClip and Klap?
ClipX focuses on streams: Twitch and Kick VODs, Pro streams up to 12 hours in parts of up to 3 hours, gaming selection rules and a Facecam + Video layout. It has no API, and it publishes directly to YouTube Shorts only.
