Counter-Strike 2 Clip Maker
Make 9:16 clips of Counter-Strike 2 streams for Reels, Shorts and TikTok. Hand ClipX a finished VOD and it finds the rounds where the streamer reacts, keeps their camera in view above the game and adds captions synced to speech.
Free plan to try it: process, edit and preview your clips. Exports need Pro.
ClipX is built for CS2 streamers who want shorts from their own broadcasts, and for clippers who edit a streamer's Premier nights with that streamer's go-ahead.
Counter-Strike 2 is Valve's free-to-play objective shooter. Two teams of five trade rounds: Terrorists try to plant the bomb at one of two bombsites, Counter-Terrorists stop them by eliminating them, running out the clock or defusing. A standard match ends when one team wins thirteen rounds. Each round starts with a buy phase and often ends in a few seconds of shooting. A long stream is a lot of rounds, and most of them look alike from the outside.
The rounds people share are the ones where the streamer is loud: calling a retake, counting down a defuse, or reacting to a whiff. ClipX transcribes the VOD and ranks those stretches, so you start from a short list instead of the full timeline.
How it works
Grab the VOD after the last match
ClipX does not take live streams. When the broadcast is over and saved, copy the link: a Twitch VOD (twitch.tv/videos/ with a number), a YouTube replay or a Kick VOD.
Paste it and confirm permission
Drop the link in. ClipX asks whether you own the broadcast or have the streamer's OK; answer before it starts. A Twitch VOD categorised as Counter-Strike picks the Gaming / stream type by itself.
Watch the top-ranked rounds
Start at the top of the list. Keep the rounds a stranger can follow; drop the ones that only land if you know the score or the money situation.
Fix map callouts, export the MP4
Callouts and weapon names are easy to mishear, so correct any wrong caption word by tapping it. Pro exports each clip at 1080x1920 with no watermark.
What you get
- Vertical 1080x1920 MP4s from Twitch, YouTube and Kick VODs, or uploaded MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM files
- Facecam + Video layout, webcam above and the round below
- Gaming / stream ranking that values the streamer over in-game radio lines
- Captions timed to each word, with a choice of styles
- Bleep swear words switch for heated rounds
- Pro: streams up to 12 hours, processed in 3-hour parts
Counter-Strike 2 rounds that clip well
Every CS2 round has a natural arc: buy, set up, fight, result. The clips that rank highest are rounds where the streamer talks through that arc. Common ones:
- A 1vX clutch, with the streamer thinking out loud about where the last enemies are.
- A defuse or plant finished with almost no time left.
- A force buy or eco round that wins against full weapons.
- A retake called over comms that works, or goes badly wrong.
- A lucky shot or a terrible miss and the reaction that follows.
- The streamer explaining a smoke or a utility line before throwing it.
Framing the webcam and keeping captions off the CS2 HUD
CS2 streams are usually full-screen game footage with a webcam placed in a corner or along the side. Facecam + Video gives you a stacked vertical frame: camera on top, game in the lower part. ClipX detects a webcam box on its own when its edges are clear; otherwise drag the top crop once for each clip.
With the default HUD, the radar occupies the top left corner, the timer and score are centred at the top, the kill feed runs down the top right, health and armour are in the bottom left and ammo is in the bottom right. Many players change their HUD settings, so check the stream itself. The middle caption position is usually the safe choice in a stacked frame, since it sits between the camera and the crosshair and away from both bottom corners. For a clip that needs the whole screen, such as a scoreboard check, use Full Fit + Title.
Matching clip length to CS2 pacing
Auto is the right starting point. Clips stretch to fit what happened, never past roughly 2:45. Gaming / stream mode holds on to the lead-up as well as the reaction and targets 20 seconds at minimum.
Use Short (under 1 minute) for one duel or a fast clutch. Use Medium (1 to 3 minutes) when the round only makes sense with the buy and the setup included, like an eco win. Long (3 to 5 minutes) covers a run of rounds around a half or an overtime, which suits YouTube more than TikTok.
Matchmaking, tournaments and co-streams
A streamer's own matches, in Premier, Competitive or on third-party servers, are their content to share, and clipping them only needs their say-so. Pro tournaments are a different case. Majors and other events are produced by their organizers, who own the broadcast and set the rules for co-streams and watch parties. Those rules may not cover clips of the event feed.
If a streamer watches a tournament live, ask them what you may post before you clip it, and keep the clip centred on their own commentary.
Get a yes before you clip a CS2 streamer
Clip another creator's broadcast only when they allow it. Many CS streamers welcome clip accounts and set rules on tagging and platforms; others prefer to post their own. No link is processed until you tell ClipX the footage is yours or that the owner signed off.

Frequently asked questions
Is the CS2 clip maker free to use?
There is a free plan to try it (process, edit and preview; exports need Pro). Pro is $4.99 for the first month, then $20/month or $200/year, and Pro clips export without a ClipX watermark.
Does ClipX find kills from the kill feed or the scoreboard?
No. ClipX does not read the HUD at all. It ranks moments from the streamer's speech and reactions, so a quiet 1v3 may be missed while a loud one ranks near the top.
Can I clip from a CS2 demo file?
ClipX does not open demo files. Record the demo playback to a video file and upload it (an MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM no larger than 500 MB), but keep in mind that clips come from speech, so footage with nobody talking gives few results.
The stream ran nine hours. Can ClipX take all of it?
On Pro, yes: streams up to 12 hours, handled three hours at a time. Pick a stretch, let it finish, and submit the same VOD again for the next stretch.
Is ClipX connected to Valve?
No. Valve has no link to ClipX and does not endorse or sponsor it.
