Gaming Clip Maker

Turn gameplay videos and gaming streams into vertical clips that keep the setup and the reaction. Paste a YouTube, Twitch or Kick link; ClipX picks the moments, puts the facecam over the game and adds captions.

One free video a day. No credit card. Cancel any time.

Gaming clips often fail in the same way: the clip starts on the final shot and ends on the scream, and nobody watching knows why it matters. This page is for gaming YouTubers and streamers who want clips that make sense to someone who has never seen the channel.

When ClipX knows a video is gameplay, it switches to rules made for games. It knows from the YouTube Gaming category, from a Twitch game category, or because you chose Gaming / stream. It then listens to the players, not the game's announcer or characters, and it asks every clip to hold both the setup and the reaction.

How it works

1

Paste a gameplay video or VOD

Paste a YouTube gameplay video, a YouTube live replay, a Twitch VOD or a Kick VOD, or upload a recording up to 500 MB. Confirm that you own it or have permission to use it.

2

ClipX finds moments with a setup and a payoff

It transcribes the voices, finds moments where something happens and someone reacts, and keeps clips long enough to set the scene: about 20 seconds or more. Each clip ends after the reaction, not on it.

3

Pick the layout

Facecam + Video puts your webcam above the gameplay. No facecam? Full Fit + Title keeps the whole game frame with a title above it, and Center Crop takes the middle of the screen.

4

Edit and export

Trim, fix caption words, add a title or music, then export a 1080×1920 MP4 with no watermark on Pro. The free plan edits and previews.

What you get

  • Gaming rules: players' voices first, setup and reaction kept, clips of about 20 seconds or more
  • Facecam + Video, Full Fit + Title and Center Crop layouts
  • YouTube, Twitch and Kick links, or uploaded recordings
  • Editable captions with the spoken word highlighted
  • Unlimited videos and exports on Pro

How ClipX picks a gaming moment

A clip needs context. If it opens on the last shot of a round, the viewer has no reason to care. On gameplay, ClipX grows a clip that is too short, and it grows it mostly backwards, so the lead-up is in the clip before the payoff.

It also keeps the clip going past the payoff it describes. If the reaction comes a few seconds after the play, the clip is extended to include it.

Voices matter more than the game's audio. An in-game announcer, a commentator inside the game or a character's lines are not treated as your content; your reactions and your teammates' calls are.

Where ClipX is not the right tool

  • Silent gameplay. ClipX finds moments in speech. A montage set to music with no voice gives it nothing to rank, so a manual editor is the better choice.
  • Reading the screen. ClipX does not read the game's HUD, kill feed or score; it works from what is said and from the reactions.
  • Live clipping. ClipX works on finished videos and VODs, not during a stream.
  • Very long sessions. A source over 3 hours is refused on every plan; cut long sessions into parts first.

Tips for better gaming clips

  • Talk while you play. Calling out what is happening gives ClipX, and your viewers, the context.
  • Upload in the YouTube Gaming category, or stream under a game category on Twitch, so ClipX applies the gaming rules without being asked. Otherwise choose Gaming / stream when you paste the link.
  • Leave the length on Auto. Gaming moments run from a quick play to a long round.
  • Use Full Fit + Title for clips where the first frame does not show what is about to happen; the title tells the viewer what to watch for.

Frequently asked questions

Is the gaming clip maker free?

You can process one video a day for free, up to 3 hours long, and edit and preview every clip ClipX finds. Exporting finished clips needs Pro: $4.99 for the first month, then $20/month, or $200/year. Pro has unlimited videos and exports, with no watermark.

Which games does it work with?

ClipX does not depend on a particular game. It works from what is said and from the video's category, so any game where the players talk works. Games played in silence give fewer clips.

Does it detect kills or wins on screen?

No. ClipX does not read the game's HUD or score. It finds moments from speech and reactions, which is why videos with commentary work best.

Can I upload a recording from my capture software?

Yes. Upload an MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM file up to 500 MB. For larger recordings, upload them to YouTube as unlisted and paste the link.

Can ClipX post my gaming clips?

On Pro, ClipX can publish to YouTube Shorts directly. For TikTok and Instagram, export the MP4 and post it yourself.
